It is recognised that effective management of volunteers includes developing good practice in a range of key areas which support volunteers and volunteering activity. Active volunteer management should be used to acheive the full benefits of Learning By Volunteering

This range of general good practice issues includes involving volunteers, creating task descriptions, providing expenses, health and safety, Insurance, recruitment, selection and screening, policies and procedures, training, induction, volunteer agreements and support mechanisms.   All these procedures should be developed  to ensure that volunteering and the volunteering learning experience is successful.
