Volunteering already happens within Scotland's colleges. Every college, for instance, has a Students Association and there is likely to be a group of people who raise funds for events such as Children in Need or other charities. 

There is likely to be a sports club or two and at the very least you will have your fair share of people in your college (nearly a third of the Scottish population) who simply volunteer within their community and do so while they are students at your college.

Some college departments are already well organised and have a long experience of developing volunteer projects, perhaps as Peer Support Groups or in providing Sports Coaching in local schools. Other colleges are in the process of taking their first steps in developing volunteering opportunities which complement the needs and aspirations of their students.
